- Information 商 品 名name Kongsgaard Kings Farm Red Wine Napa Valley 2021 蔵 元wine maker コングスガード / Kongsgaard 産 地terroir アメリカ/America>カリフォルニア州/California>ナパ・ヴァレー/Napa Valley 格 付 けclass AVA ナパヴァレー / Napa Valley ヴィンテージvintage 2021年 品 種cepage シャルドネ100% 種 類 / 味わいtype/taste 白white / 辛口dry 容 量net volume 750ml 輸 入 元importer 正規輸入代理店 中川ワイン 情 報information ナパ・ヴァレーを代表する二つの畑の葡萄から造られる、コングスガード創業時から造り続けられている代表作です。 その生産量は年産約1000ケース程度。日本に入荷してもすぐ完売してしまう貴重なワインです。 二つの畑は両方共ナパ・カーネロスにある、ハドソン・ヴィンヤード(2/3)とハイド・ヴィンヤード(1/3)、この二つの個性が競演しています。リスキーな方法=葡萄の力を尊重し、厳しいまでの環境下で人力の介在を減らし、自然に任せる。完成形は少量のみ。 ジョン・コングスガードは、若かりし日に目指したクラッシック音楽家としての将来を断念し、ナパ・ヴァレーに5世代続く稼業(土地に根差した農業、造園業、岩切り出し業)を家族と共に継いでいくことを妻・マギーと共に決断したのが1970年代。 ナパ市街にほど近いCoombsville/クームスヴィルの山頂にある祖父が岩を切り出し販売する稼業を行っていた土地を開墾し、白品種の葡萄を植樹しました。アンドレ・チェリチェフから「岩だらけで、遮るものもない丘の上、強い風が通るこの土地から、絶対無二のものが出来る」とのアドバイスを受けたからです。その畑は、判事であった父に敬意を表し“The Judge Vineyard/ザ・ジャッジ・ヴィンヤード”と名付けられ、ここから伝説のワインが生み出されることになります。 1996年コングスガードとして初ヴィンテージをリリース。自社畑だけでなく、ナパ・ヴァレーの中でも最高の畑のオーナーたちと契約を結び、オーダーメイドで葡萄を注文する(低収量に制限する)ことを始めた第一人者でもあります。コングスガードのワインを造る傍ら、Newton, Luna, Livingstone, Ariettaなどでワインメーカーを務め、名声は広く知られるようになります。一緒に働いたり、アシスタントをしたり、たった一年、ひとシーズンだけでも彼に関わった人々は、彼の曲げないワイン造りにおける信念、人生観、シリアスながら大きく人を包み込むようなオーラを発する彼から、多くを学び、大きな影響を受け、師と仰ぎ、その影響は伝播してるのです。 ジョン・コングスガードが造るワインは、選び抜いたベストの区画から、極端なまでの低収量、天然酵母のみを使い、低温のセラーで長い時間をかけて醗酵を待ちます。ノン・フィルター、ノン・ファイニング(人工的な清澄作業をしない)。今では当たり前のように言われていますが最新鋭の化学設備で行うのではなく、ほぼ手作業。リスクの大きな造り方でもあります。おめがねにかなう葡萄が出来なければそのワインを造りません。満足の行くクオリティーでなければ年により生産量が極端に変わり、自然によると言うよりも、ジョン・コングスガードのフィルターによりワインは造られていきます。その厳しさが多くの信望者を集める由縁でしょう。 現在、Arietta/アリエッタの共同経営権を手放し、得た資金を元に、アトラス・ピークの山奥に土地を購入。斜面の岩盤を自らと息子アレックスや家族の手で掘削し、迷路のようなワイナリーを建設。2006VTGからこの新しいワイナリーで全てのワイン造りを行っています。隣接したナパ・ヴァレーを見下ろす自社畑には、斜面に合わせて様々な台木、クローンを組み合わせて、各品種が植えられています。2013年初めて自社畑のワイン造りが1樽ずつ行えるというまだまだ将来性を秘めた若い畑。息子のアレックスと共に、栽培・醸造にあたり、畑の中に建てられた自宅は園芸家である妻・マギーが丹精を込めた草木花々に囲まれています。新しい環境を経て、これからもコングスカードの伝説は家族の中に、信望者のワインの中に引き継がれていくことでしょう。 ※インポーター様資料より
